It is demonstrated through community donations, sponsorships, educational activities and outreach events, and partnership with community and co-operative organizations. As a long-term commitment to ensure viability and growth of our contributions to the community, we established the Franklin Community Co-operative Fund (FCCF), a program for community giving.
How can our co-op make the commitment to “Cooperative Principles” stronger and more effective and share the success of your efforts with others?
One new way is with our newly-established Franklin Community Co-operative Fund.
In 2015 we contributed $10,000 into the Twin Pines Cooperative Community Fund and created our own Franklin Co-operative Community Fund.
As part of the Give Where You Live campaign, a national effort to support food cooperatives across the U.S. in building local Cooperative Community Funds, we will be able to make contributions to non-profits and co-operatives in our local area with the interest earned.
In growing our fund with contributions from co-op and community members we’ll be able to continue support of local groups working on issues relating to sustainable agriculture and organic food, hunger and social issues, environmental protection, and co-operatives.
Our fund is one way we can put our dollars to work in supporting our local food system.
We expect the FCCF fund to also appeal to member owners looking for tax-deductible giving, as well as to everyday shoppers taking pride in promoting our co-operative values.
